Assessment
A veteran with a Gold Card, or a White Card for an accepted condition, calls the VHC Assessment Agency. The agency assesses them by phone, writes a care plan and sends it to the allocated provider.
Copayments
Part hours are charged pro rata. The assessment agency sets the copayment on the care plan, and DVA can waive it.
| Service | Copayment | Weekly cap |
|---|---|---|
| Domestic assistance | $5 an hour | $5 |
| Personal care | $5 an hour | $10 |
For providers
- Deliver the hours on the care plan, no more.
- Invoice the veteran's copayment and claim the rest from DVA.
- Stop charging when a waiver is approved.
- Watch for reassessment dates.
How Care Nexus helps
Care Nexus keeps Veterans' Home Care within the care plan and invoices copayments for you.
- Approved hours from each VHC care plan are tracked against services delivered.
- You're alerted when a booking falls after a veteran's reassessment is due.
- Care Nexus creates each veteran's copayment invoice automatically from the services delivered. Once you've reviewed it, it's sent to the veteran automatically. Approved waivers stop the charge.
- A veteran with both VHC and Household Services for the same help is flagged before the service is delivered.
